The Goal:
There is a communication barrier between people who can hear and those who cannot. I wanted to explore how a game could help bridge this gap by introducing hearing players to the basics of sign language in an engaging and approachable way.

The Challenge:
The challenge was to make sign language feel like a natural part of the game rather than a separate learning task. I explored different formats, from an AI-driven game to an interactive public installation, before choosing a fantasy-themed board game for families and young players.

The Result
Players journey through a hexagonal labyrinth, collect magic cards, and face a monster. The cards introduce sign language through challenges that require players to recognize, perform, or use the finger alphabet. By making signing part of the core gameplay, Spellcast Quest turns learning into a natural part of the adventure rather than a separate task.
