The Goal:

I wanted to explore how gardening could become part of urban living and give apartment residents the opportunity to grow something of their own, even in a dense city environment.

1

The Challenge:

The challenge was to bring together three very different requirements: creating the right conditions for plant growth, fitting the system into the constraints of an urban building, and accommodating the busy lifestyles of its residents. The result needed to work as a growing system, an architectural element, and a convenient part of everyday life.

The Result

Each household owns an aerponic tower where they can grow their own produce. Automated irrigation, lighting, and ventilation keep the plants growing, while a gardener provides additional care when needed. The result is more than a growing system. It creates a visually engaging space where residents can access fresh produce just steps from their home. By shortening the distance between growing and eating, it also reduces waste from transportation and storage while making the process of growing food more visible and educational.
