Morfit

Morfit is a ski boot with a manual adjustment system that provides a fast, precise, and personalized fit without heat, tools, or professional assistance. Granulate-filled cushions inside the liner mold to the shape of the foot when vacuum is applied, providing secure hold and comfort.

The Goal:

I wanted to create a ski boot that combines comfort and secure support while allowing skiers to adjust the fit themselves, anytime and without additional equipment or service.

The Challenge:

The challenge was finding an adaptive system that could conform to different foot shapes while remaining comfortable and easy to adjust. I explored several approaches, including inflatable air chambers, pressure-sensitive fluids, and vacuum-formed granulate cushions. Testing showed that air chambers could provide strong support but became too rigid, while dilatant fluids were difficult to control and integrate. Vacuum-filled granulate offered the best balance of comfort, stability, and adjustability, leading me to develop this system further.

The Result

Morfit uses vacuum-formed granulate cushions to create a personalized fit around the foot. The transparent liner and open-front shell make the mechanism visible, turning the adjustment system into a tangible part of the design.
